This Wingstop Ranch Dressing can be used on wings, naturally, but also makes a great side for dipping raw vegetables, french fries, and even fried clam strips.
In this recipe post, you will learn how to make Wingstop Ranch Dressing that tastes exactly like the restaurant version.
What Is Wingstop Ranch Dressing?
Wingstop Ranch Dressing is a favorite dipping sauce side served at Wingstop Restaurant.
This ranch dip is so thick, creamy and flavorful that it has become even more of an attraction to Wingstop customers than the wings, themselves!
There is no shortage of copycat recipes online – all trying to duplicate the one-of-a-kind flavor of Wingstop Ranch Dressing.
And they differ, slightly, on some of the specific ingredients or measurements, but all do a pretty good job of copying the dipping sauce served at Wingstop!
Since I am familiar with someone who worked at Wingstop, I am quite sure this Wingstop Ranch Dressing Copycat Recipe is an exact duplicate of the restaurant version.
And since I love sharing seasonal recipes on SeasonalCookbook.com, what could be more seasonal than wings with ranch dipping sauce during football season?
How To Make Wingstop Ranch Dressing (Copycat Recipe)
There really is nothing to making your own version of Wingstop Ranch dressing at home.
It’s a simple combination of only four ingredients – some of which you may already have.
Wingstop Ranch Dressing (Copycat Recipe) – The Ingredients
I love delicious recipes that use very few ingredients – and this Wingstop Ranch Dressing only uses four!
The four ingredients are (I have added Amazon links so you can buy these ingredients online):
- Hidden Valley Ranch Dry Salad Dressing & Recipe Mix Seasoning
- Hellmann’s Real Mayonnaise
- Buttermilk
- Salt
That’s it!
I provide the exact measurements for each ingredient in the Recipe Card below.

Mixing The Wingstop Ranch Dressing
This entire recipe only involves combining the ingredients – there is no cooking involved.
I’ll share my method for combining the ingredients here, but there really is no right or wrong way, just personal preference.
I start by adding the Hellmann’s Mayo to my small bowl (again, I give the exact measurements for each ingredient in the Recipe Card below).
Next, I sprinkle in the packets of dry Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning.

Using a spoon, I then mix the dry ranch seasoning and mayonnaise together, thoroughly, so that the seasoning is well-distributed throughout the mayo.
Note how some of the dry seasoning may stick to the side of the bowl if you don’t pour it carefully (or your cat distracts you like mine did!)
As you mix the mayonnaise and dry ranch seasoning together, just make sure to get ALL of the dry Hidden Valley Ranch mixed with the mayo – this is really what gives this Wingstop Ranch Dressing it’s amazing flavor!
Next, begin adding the buttermilk.
Make sure you slowly stir the mixture of mayonnaise, dry ranch seasoning and buttermilk as the buttermilk is being poured.
The buttermilk adds an addictive creaminess to this dressing that tastes great with wings and so many other things.
Finally, add a pinch or two of salt and mix everything together so that all ingredients are distributed evenly.
Cover with Saran Wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Now, onto the recipe…
Tips & Substitutions
Since this Wingstop Ranch Dressing (Copycat Recipe) uses so few ingredients, already, there isn’t a lot to change or substitute for.
But here are a couple ideas:
For extra creaminess, you can substitute Hellmann’s Heavy Mayo in place of the Hellmann’s Real Mayo (Regular) I used, but a word of caution.
*****Tired of planning your own meals? Get everything you need for making healthy meals at home delivered directly to your door from EveryPlate!*****
If you substitute the heavy mayo, I recommend cutting down the amount used by one-half to one-third what I recommended in the recipe card above.
Seriously, that stuff is heavy and has a much higher fat content so only use 1/3 to 1/2 cup if you decide to use the Hellmann’s Heavy Mayo.
I cannot think of anything that can be substituted for the Hidden Valley Ranch Dry Seasoning – this is really an essential ingredient of Wingstop Ranch Dressing.
Finally, one tip is that I sometimes sprinkle parsley flakes on top – a little bit for flavor, but mainly because it gives the ranch dressing a nice look
As they say, ‘...parsley for presentation…’
What Makes Wingstop Ranch So Good?
Is it the ranch flavoring?
Could it be the creaminess of the mayo and buttermilk mixed together?
Or is it the cooling effect this Wingstop Ranch has on deliciously spicy wings?

What To Serve With Wingstop Ranch Dressing?
Wings, obviously!
But this ranch dressing is so creamy and flavorful, it goes great with raw vegetables, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and fried clam strips.
I even started dipping potato chips and Doritos into it – it’s that good.

And let’s not forget that this is a ranch dressing – so it’s perfect to use and tastes great on salads, too!
How To Store Wingstop Ranch Dressing?
The easiest way to store your leftover Wingstop Ranch dressing – if there IS any leftover – is to just leave the excess dressing in the same bowl you mixed it in, cover with Saran Plastic Wrap, and refrigerate.
How Long Does Wingstop Ranch Last In The Fridge?
What I, typically do, is just spoon out as much as I want to use from the small bowl I mixed the dressing in and then re-cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it back in the refrigerator immediately.
It can last 5 – 6 days if you follow this method, which will keep the unused Wingstop Ranch Dressing fully refrigerated at all times.
Some Background On Wingstop Restaurant
According to the Wingstop Website, Wingstop started as a small buffalo chicken restaurant in Garland, Texas in 1994.
Since then it has grown to over 2,000 locations through franchising.
They are, primarily, known for their wings, but their slogan is that ‘…we are not in the wings business, we’re in the flavor business…‘
I’ll have to agree with them on that one as their Wingstop Ranch Dressing is so full of flavor and has inspired this copycat recipe – as well as many other copycat recipes – due to its popularity!

Happy Cooking!
I think 2 packets and the pinch of salt is too much. Taste to salty with the 2 plus the salt. I will only be using one packet minus the salt.
Hi Valerie,
After making this a few times now, I tend to agree with you. I have been cutting down on salt in many of my recipes and I don’t think you sacrifice any flavor buy doing this here.
Thanks for the suggestion!
