And you’ll see just how big a fan I am of the Mediterranean Diet.
I am also a huge fan of summer salads!

So, what could be better than a summer salad that uses traditional Mediterranean Diet Ingredients?
A Caprese Salad with Peaches!
What Is A Caprese Salad?
A Caprese Salad is an Italian salad made using fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil.
Mozzarella, tomatoes and basil are the fundamental ingredients in any Caprese salad.
I also like to add extra virgin olive oil, as well as balsamic vinegar, in order to enhance and expand the flavor profile.
What Is A Peach Caprese Salad?
A Peach Caprese Salad is just a Caprese Salad that includes peaches as one of its main ingredients.

Why Add Peaches?
This salad already has key savory elements.
It incorporates tomatoes and balsamic vinegar.
In my opinion, it’s the combination of sweet AND savory elements that really make this salad delicious.
I feel that the peaches provide the perfect ‘sweet’ addition to this mostly savory salad.

And what fruit is more synonymous with summer than peaches?
(Okay, okay I know you are probably thinking watermelon, but just go with me here…)
How To Pronounce Caprese
Caprese is pronounced “Cuh-pray-zay“.
It is an Italian word that means ‘of or from Capri’, which is an Island off the Coast of Italy.
My mother who spoke Italian would call this recipe ‘Insalata Caprese il Pesche‘, which means ‘Salad of Capri with Peaches’.

Why I Think This Peach Caprese Salad Is The Prefect Salad For Summer
I love that this salad incorporates fresh peaches, tomatoes, and basil.
These ingredients alone provide a fragrant mix of several of the scents associated with summer.
I enjoy the distinctly crisp and sweet aromas of the fresh peaches.
And I can remember my mother picking fresh basil during the summer.
The basil produced such a wonderful aroma when she pulled the leaves and shredded them between her fingers.
The chilled mozzarella fresh from the refrigerated dairy counter and the balsamic drizzle all combine in the most perfect way.
This Peach Caprese Salad or Insalata Caprese if you prefer, smells – and tastes – like summer to me!

Just writing this description is making me want to stop and eat this right now!
But not until I share this recipe with YOU!
Why You Will Love This Peach Caprese Salad
I think that you will love the combination of sweet and savory elements.
In my opinion, it’s this combination of sweet and savory that elevates this Peach Caprese Salad beyond your typical summer salad.
The sweet peaches combined with the savory kick from the balsamic vinegar form an irresistible melding of flavors.

In my opinion, the fresh, aromatic, basil complements each of the other ingredients, perfectly.
And this recipe uses very few ingredients.
That makes it a breeze to prepare!

Recipe Equipment Needed
This Peach Caprese Salad is such a breeze to prepare, I didn’t even include a photo of the cookware needed.
You’ll just need a:
- Sharp Chef’s Knife
All you really need is a high-quality, sharp knife for slicing the tomato, peaches and mozzarella.
The leaves of the basil can be shredded by hand.
What could be simpler?
Tips & Substitutions
Salt & Pepper
I do not use salt OR pepper in this recipe.
While some recipes for Peach Caprese Salad you’ll find online recommend salt and/or pepper, I just don’t think it’s necessary.
I feel that the balsamic vinegar or a quality balsamic glaze drizzle is salty enough, so I recommend skipping salt altogether.
I also do not recommend adding pepper in combination with sweet elements like peaches and basil.
I understand that pepper is a nice addition to the tomatoes, however.
And if you must have pepper, I would suggest adding the pepper JUST to the tomato slices before building your salad.
Peach-Infused Balsamic Vinegar
I didn’t even know this was a thing until recently.
If you are crazy about peaches and cannot get enough peach flavor, I recommend this Peach Infused Balsamic Vinegar.
It can be used as a substitute for traditional balsamic vinegar in this recipe.
However, I prefer using this peach-infused balsamic vinegar in conjunction with traditional balsamic vinegar.
Does This Peach Caprese Salad Use Yellow Or White Peaches?
It’s really up to you.
I used a combination of two yellow and two white peaches in this recipe.

I think the yellow peaches contrast nicely against the fresh white mozzarella.
But white peaches are so sweet and delicious, so I added them as well.
Go by whatever type of peaches you prefer you can’t go wrong!
Fresh Mozzarella
This is one ingredient you’ll want to keep as-is.
There is, literally, nothing that can replace fresh mozzarella as one of the key ingredients in this Peach Caprese Salad.
Don’t substitute!
Slicing Fruit and Even Mozzarella Requires A Sharp Knife
A dull knife is a kitchen accident waiting to happen.
It is very important when slicing tough fruit like peaches or even tomatoes that you use a high-quality knife!
Even slicing a nice ball of fresh mozzarella can be dicey (get it?) without the proper knife.
And Now…
On to the recipe!
How To Store Peach Caprese Salad
I think that this Peach Caprese Salad is so delicious and refreshing that you’ll probably not have any left over.
But if you do, simply cover it tightly with a good plastic food wrap and refrigerate immediately.
Keeping this salad covered and cool will allow the flavors to shine even after being stored.
I would recommend AGAINST storing your Peach Caprese Salad in the freezer.
Tomatoes and, especially, sliced peaches can develop freezer burn and lose their flavor.
How Long Will Peach Caprese Salad Last In The Fridge?
One or Two days is the maximum time I would allow this dish to rest in the refrigerator.

The main reason is that once peaches have been sliced open, the process of browning will begin.
Refrigerating slows this process, significantly, but you don’t want to let sliced peaches remain in the refrigerator for too long.

This Peach Caprese Salad with it’s combination of fresh, summertime ingredients is a favorite salad appetizer.
It can be served at a picnic or as a lighter, healthier option at any summer barbecue.

The Mediterranean Diet Ingredients form the foundation of a traditional Caprese Salad, while the peaches add a sweet element.
And it’s the combination of sweet and savory that makes this Peach Caprese Salad ultimately irresistible.
Plus, it’s easy to prepare.
Amaze your guests at your next get-together with something that’s a little bit unique and even more delicious!
