What Is Chicken Taco Seasoning?
My chicken taco seasoning is a simple blend of five popular spices.
This recipe is quick to prepare and adds a depth of flavor to any chicken taco dish.

But don’t worry…
This versatile recipe can be used as a dry rub on chicken breasts, thighs or legs…
Whether you are making chicken tacos or not!
What Other SeasonalCookbook.com Recipes Can This Seasoning Be Used For?
Good question!
This blend of herbs and spices is perfect for adding flavor to any chicken dish.
For instance, you can substitute this seasoning in my Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken Breast recipe for an entirely unique flavor.
It’s really up to you how creative you want to be.
Chicken Taco Seasoning – The Ingredients
As you can see, there are only 5 spices that I use to make this flavorful seasoning.
I will say that I think adding the smoked paprika really enhances the flavor of this seasoning.
It’s probably my favorite ingredient in this spice blend!
While the spices listed above make up the exact blend I use when making chicken tacos, you can also season beef tacos with this same recipe.
Recipe Equipment Needed
This chicken taco seasoning recipe is so easy that it requires almost no recipe equipment!
If you have a small plate, handy set of measuring spoons and a plastic Ziploc Storage Bag, you are good to go!
How To Make Chicken Taco Seasoning
First, portion out your ingredients as described in the Recipe Card below using a set of measuring spoons like the one I linked to in the above paragraph.
I like to simply add each ingredient, separately, onto a plate as shown:

Once all ingredients are portioned out, just scrape them off your plate using a silicone spatula like this and into a large, plastic Ziploc bag.
Seal Ziploc bag and shake well to mix the chicken taco seasoning ingredients together.
Finally, add the spice blend to the chicken.
Do this by slowly by pouring the spices from the bag and onto a 1 – 1.5 lb chicken breast.
***TIP: Thoroughly pat your chicken breast dry with a highly absorbent paper towel beforehand.
This helps the seasoning stick better.

Coating The Chicken With Seasoning
Use your free hand to spread the chicken taco seasoning fully over the chicken breast.
Try to also push or pat the the 5-spice blend down and into the chicken breast.
The spice rub seasoning will stick to the chicken breast and provide a delicious coating.
How to Store Chicken Taco Seasoning?
You can use a similar plastic Ziploc Storage Bag like the one you used to mix your seasoning ingredients together to store this.
However, if you measured out the herbs and spices as I described above, you probably won’t have any seasoning to store.
But, you could very well have some leftover cooked and seasoned chicken taco meat to refrigerate.
In that case, I like to use these freezer safe plastic food storage containers.
They’re great!
