Irish Soda Bread

Bake Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

What You Need:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lightly beaten egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

What You Do:

  1. Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix egg and buttermilk together. Combine with rest of ingredients (except melted butter) and blend until smooth.
  3. Blend in butter.
  4. Bake for 65 – 70 minutes and remove to a wire cooling rack, allowing bread to cool for several hours.
