<ul>
<li style="text-align: right;">a bag of nacho corn chips (any variety)</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">a medium package of shredded cheddar or Monterrey jack cheese</li>
<li style="text-align: right;"> medium can of refried or pinto beans</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">small onion</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">small green pepper</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">a jalapeno pepper, sliced (optional)</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">salsa (optional)</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">low-fat sour cream (optional)</li>

<p style="text-align: right;"><strong>What You Do:</strong></p>
<ol>
<li style="text-align: right;">Preheat oven to 400 degrees.</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">Chop onion and green pepper to make about 1/2 cup each.</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">Place nacho chips evenly on a large baking sheet.</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">Top with beans.</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">Sprinkle cheese generously over the nachos and bake for about 15 minutes.</li>
<li style="text-align: right;">Add salsa, jalapeno pepper, and/or sour cream to top of baked nachos (optional.)</li>

<li>2 tablespoons crushed peppermint candies</li>
<li>2 tablespoons sugar</li>
<li>1 teaspoon peppermint extract</li>
<li>1 teaspoon vanilla</li>
<li>1 teaspoon baking powder</li>
<li>1 egg</li>
<li>1/2 teaspoon red food coloring</li>
</ul>

<p style="text-align: right;"><strong>What You Do:</strong></p>
<ol style="text-align: right;">
<li>Mix the cup of sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, peppermint extract, flour, baking powder, and egg in a large bowl.</li>
<li>Divide the dough in half.</li>
<li>Add red food coloring to half the dough and refrigerate both halves for two hours.</li>
<li>Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.</li>
<li>Mix the crushed peppermint candy and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a small bowl.</li>
<li>Shape cookies by forming a teaspoon of each dough into 4-inch ropes (roll dough on floured surface.) Place one red and one white rope side by side and twist together. Bend top of cookie over to form curve of cane.</li>
<li>Place cookies several inches apart on cookie sheet and bake for 9-12 minutes. Sprinkle peppermint candy mixture over baked cookies and let cool (30 minutes.)</li>
